A lot of the old paintshop pro'ers learned 'tubing' back in the early or mid 2000's. But, I was getting into pixel art. And thought eh, it looks really hard. I don't know what they're talking about. I won't need that LOL!!!!! uh huh!!! BIG LAUGHTER!
I do recall a message board I think it was. Something about Sensibility and Simplicity. I think it was maybe a partnership of EricaWilma and someone else. Or maybe it was her own, all by herself. I didn't know anything about using the magic wand, or cleaning images. That was all foriegn to me. But I sure do regret it now.
So, thankfully EricaWilma is still around and still helping out community so so much. [ Tubing Group.] And now I've been learning about cleaning up these AI generated images. Little blurry and ghost pixels and shadows around the edges. Sometimes a spot or two of the image is missing. So that needs to be painting in on a separate layer, below the image.

It's really been a very interesting journey.
This watercolor autumn image is some of my work from when I first started generating AI. When you zoom in on it, you can see what all was not cleaned that should have been. I didn't know to clean them up in the beginning. So if I was not zoomed in, and it looked pretty. Then I thought it was good to go.
with watercolor, I also thought the background part, the watercolor shadows were supposed to stay. I thought that was basically part of the artistry of the image. The 'watercolor' effect of the art. But much later learned people don't like buying images in that condition, or even working with them. Doesn't matter if its free or not...
This is showing some of the areas that I now understand should have been cleaned. And I know from experience it is NOT FUN buying something and then having to clean it up myself. So, I do understand that aggravation and some anger that was starting to spread in the community with new designers just jumping into AI; having never made kits or signature tags or any of the graphics that we create. -- facebook avatars/covers, blog e-store and website designs...
The best way to see all your lil' ghost pixels; is to flood fill a color on a separate layer, drag it below the image. I check with several different colors now. Black, bright green, bright pink, purple, and sometimes red.
This next one is a water color AI gen I've recently cleaned. It is for purchase at Mystical Scraps. All products at this store are commercial use products that are exclusive to only that store. (I only mention all of that incase someone tries to snag it, and sell or give it away for themselves...)
Hopefully the difference can be seen. I can see it a lot now. Joining Mystical Scraps has helped me a lot. Their focus is on quality! I was not accepted right away with the samples I gave. *lol* Then Lizzie worked with me. And I gave her better samples. And she gave me tips and showed me where my images were not clean enough. I also cleaned up more images and showed them to her. And they agreed, that was much better quality. Which has helped me immensely. Especially for the watercolor images. I swear, joining that store has been absolutely the best thing for me. They are super kind (Lizzie and Lizzy) and so are the designers that are there. They are helpful, non critical, no drama. And their AI images!! OMG!!
It is super impressive to me that they are checking images and want quality over quantity.
Drop me a comment if you'd like to see more tips, comparisons, & chat on imagery... I know some do not care for AI. Which is fine. I pay to be licensed in my resources I use to generate AI. And I will always love all forms of art and creation. I still buy a lot of traditional art tubes. Like the one below in my signature tag...
